Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the
General Logistics Department of the PLA, met with Lao high-ranking officers
delegation led by Souphet Phayvisith, director of the General Logistics Bureau
of the Lao People's Army in Beijing yesterday.
Liao Xilong said that there exists profound traditional friendship between
the Chinese and Lao peoples, and the bilateral relations between the two
countries have all along been growing in a sound and all-round way. As an
important part of the ties between the two countries, the relations between two
militaries have witnessed reciprocal visits by high-level officials and other
personnel exchanges, at the same time fields of friendly exchange and
cooperation have been steadily expanded and fruitful results have been yielded
in their substantial cooperation. Liao Xilong noted that the Chinese side
attaches importance to developing its friendly cooperative relations with the
Lao side, and is willing to work together with the Lao armed forces to
constantly expand the fields of cooperation and raise the level of cooperation
so as to push forward the friendly relations between the two militaries.
Souphet Phayvisith said that China is a trustworthy friend and neighbor of
the Laos. The Lao side is grateful to the Chinese people and army for their
long-term valuable support to the Laos in its economic construction and the army
building, and he hopes to see the friendly cooperative relation ship between the
two militaries be further deepened in the days to come.
Li Maifu, deputy director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA,
was present at the meeting.
