The PLA delegation to the 17th National Congress of the Comunist
Party of China (CPC) held its inaugural meeting yesterday morning. At the
meeting, all the delegates elected Guo Boxiong the leader of the delegation, Cao
Gangchuan and Xu Caihou the deputy leaders and Li Jinai the secretary general.
Cao Gangchuan, entrusted by the Central Military Commission, presided over
the meeting. He briefly introduced the 247 delegates from various fields of the
army and the 11 specially invited delegates designated by the Central Committee
of the CPC and the distribution and structure of the delegates to attendees, and
also presided at the event of electing the leaders of the delegation.
Guo Boxiong addressed the meeting. He said that it was a must to fully
understand the enormous impact of the 17th CPC National Congress on
boosting the development of the CPC and the state affairs of China, deeply
understand and grasp the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress
with full political enthusiasm and high political sense of responsibility,
earnestly offer good advice and suggestions on the basis of the overall
interests of the CPC and the state, exercise earnestly and responsibly their
rights as delegates, fulfill all the duties empowered by the 17th CPC
National Congress, live up to the expectations of the CPC and the people, be
worthy of the trusts of the CPC members and officers and men of the army, and
make due contributions to making the 17th CPC National Congress a
conference of unity and success.
