Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee
and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized during an
inspection tour of the Nanjing war theatre recently that the PLA should take
more effective measures to deepen the ongoing study and implementation of the
essence of the 17th CPC National Congress in close combination with the
realities of the troops.
With a view to effectively carry out its historical mission in the new
century and the new period, the PLA should conduct arduous and strict training
of its troops under war conditions, and pertinence and practical results should
be stressed in training, so as to steadily enhance the fighting capability of
the troops under informationization conditions and resolutely accomplish various
missions entrusted by the Party and the people.
During the tour, Guo Boxiong inspected naval and air force units under the
Nanjing war theater, the Zhejiang Provincial Military Command and the units
directly affiliated to the PLA general headquarters/departments with focus on
inspecting the military training of the troops. Guo Boxiong also went to the
training grounds to watch the trainings of the troops and held informal
discussions with the officers and men.
