ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan is positive in contributing troops
in the United Nations Darfur peacekeepers, a military spokesman said here on
Thursday.
"The United Nations has also approached Pakistan for contribution in a new
peacekeeping mission in Darfur and we would actively participate in it," said
military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas.
Ababs made the remarks while attending a seminar marking the 60th
anniversary of U.N. peacekeeping and International Day of UN peacekeepers
Pakistan is the largest contributor to peacekeeping operations including
civilian police, military observers and troops, said a press release from U.N.
Information Centre.
Abbas said 98 soldiers have died and 93 wounded while serving under the
flag of the United Nations.
