BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- A group of Chinese and foreign military
experts attended a two-day symposium here, discussing the role of the armed
forces in dealing with terrorism threats, radical religious groups and natural
disasters.
The symposium was held at the National Defense University of China in the
western suburbs of Beijing and ended today. Among the participants were 131
foreign army officers and Chinese military personnel, experts and scholars.
Over the past two days, they shared their views on the mission and function
of armed forces in non-traditional security, the principles and patterns of the
use of armed forces in non-traditional security, relations between
non-traditional security and army, and non-traditional security and
international military cooperation.
The university is the top military academy in the country. Since 2001, the
university has organized seven international seminars on major international
issues.
