Liang Guanglie, state councilor and minister of national defense, met with
General Moeen Ahmed, chief of staff of the Bangladeshi Army yesterday in
Beijing.
Liang Guanglie said that China and Bangladesh are friendly close neighbors
and there exists profound traditional friendship between the peoples of the two
countries. The Chinese side gratefully appreciates the valuable support rendered
to China by the Bangladeshi government, people and armed forces in the
preparations and holding of the Olympic Games.
Liang also said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army attached
importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with the Bangladeshi
Armed Forces. Over the years, the two armed forces have carried out friendly
multi-tiered and wide-ranging cooperation in weaponry and equipment, personnel
training, exchanges between military educational institutions, and other fields.
The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Bangladeshi side to
constantly push forward the comprehensive and cooperative partnership featuring
long-term friendship, equality and mutual benefit.
Moeen said that there existed fraternal friendship between Bangladesh and
China and their two militaries. The Bangladeshi side is grateful to China for
the valuable support it has rendered to Bangladesh in national construction and
army building. The Bangladeshi side firmly supports China's stand on the Taiwan
and Tibet issues and applauds the fruitful work done by the Chinese government,
people and armed forces for the Beijing Olympic Games, and wishes the Beijing
Olympic Games a great success.
Moeen is in China to attend various activities related to the Beijing
Olympic Games in his capacity as president of the Bangladeshi Olympic Committee.
