Group army pays attention to psychological education

english.chinamil.com.cn 2008-11-18

A group army under the Nanjing Military Area Command has made outstanding achievements in psychological education and service in recent years.

The group army assigns its psychological consultants to make regular rounds to the troops and invites psychological experts from military hospitals and professional psychological health institutions to give lectures on psychological knowledge in battalions and companies.

It has also established, in units at the level of regiment or above, the "four-room and one-website" service system, to wit, the psychological consultation room, the psychotherapy room, the psychological publicity and education room, the psychological quality training room and the psychological consultation website.

The group army has all along been studying and probing into the effective methods of how to include the psychological education and consultation into the military training to forge the psychological adaptive capacity and the endurance of the officers and men.

It has established three psychological quality training fields in succession. By virtue of making the officers and men to take up challenges and tests of extreme hardships and fatigue regularly, it has narrowed the psychological distance between the officers and men and the battlefield.

On a psychological quality training field of a training unit under a division, some servicemen were engaged in a comprehensive training for building up the psychological endurance, including passing through electric fences, jumping through a fire ring and descending by flying fox while others were fostering adaptive capacity in a simulated actual-battle environment. The officers and men were pretty calm and composed in spite of the deafening artillery fire and the continuous rumbling of explosions.
