The symposium to commemorate Comrade Chen Zaidao's centenary birthday was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing yesterday. Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was present at the conference.

　　Comrade Chen Zaidao is an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a long-tested loyal communist fighter, proletarian revolutionary and strategist, member of the previous Consultative Committee of the Central Committee of the CPC, consultant of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and vice chairman of the 6th National Committee of the CPPCC. Chen was awarded the military rank of general in 1955.

　　Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the CMC, addressed the symposium. He said that during his long revolutionary life, Comrade Chen Zaidao devoted all his life to national independence, people's liberation, national defense and army building and performed immortal feats.

　　Zhang Wannian and members of the CMC Liao Xilong, Chang Wanquan and Wu Shengli were present at the symposium. Li Jinai, member of the CMC and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, presided over the symposium.
