Yesterday was the second day since "The Great
Man of the 20th Century --Exhibition in Memory of the 100th Anniversary of
Deng Xiaoping's Birth" was open to visitors. Although it was hot and
sultry and there was a sprinkle of drizzle at noontime, yet visitors kept
coming to the exhibition in an endless stream.
At both sides of the entrance of the
exhibition, there were visitor's books, which were one of the places that
attracted visitors most. If you leaf through the visitors' books, you will
find messages written in Chinese and foreign languages. Judging by their
handwritings, you may find out some were written by senior citizens and
some left by lovely young people.
One message on the visitor's book
aroused echoes among the visitors at the site, which read, "Comrade Deng
Xiaoping is the son of the Chinese people. He has made great contributions
to the Chinese people and it is he who has piloted China to become
prosperous and powerful. This exhibition has served as a profound lecture
to us. I would like to say from the bottom of my heart, 'Hello,
Xiaoping!'" The signature was: a Party member college
student.
There were also quite a few foreign
visitors. During their visit to the exhibition, the reporter took it upon
himself to act as guide for Mr. Roy Batesons and his wife from the U.S.
When I asked what they thought of the exhibition, they raised their
thumbs. Before they left the exhibition, they wrote down a message on the
visitors' book, which read, "I love Beijing and I love Xiaoping. The
Chinese people are lucky to have such a great man as Deng
Xiaoping."
