The PLA symposium on Deng
Xiaoping's life story and thinking was held in Beijing yesterday. Xu
Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the
Communist Party of China, member of the Central Military Commission and
director of the General Political Department of the PLA, pointed out in
his address to the symposium that the PLA symposium on Deng Xiaoping's
life story and thinking is of great significance to holding high the great
banner of Deng Xiaoping theory, implementing the important thought of
"Three Represents" in an all-round way, sticking unswervingly to the road
of building socialism with Chinese characteristics and creating a new
situation for national defense and army building.
Xu Caihou said
that the most valuable spiritual wealth Comrade Deng Xiaoping has left us
is no other than the Deng Xiaoping Theory. Deng Xiaoping's thinking on
army building in the new period is an important part of the Deng Xiaoping
Theory and the development and extension of this theory in military
sector. It has inherited and developed Mao Zedong's military thought,
epitomized the fundamental rules of army building in the new era and
boosted the military guiding theory of the CPC into a new stage, and
therefore, is not only a milestone in the process of combining the
military theory of Marxism with the actual situation in China, but also
the scientific guidance to be strictly adhered to over a long period of
time in the contemporary national defense and army building in China.
