On the eve of the 100th anniversary
of Deng Xiaoping' s birth, the PLA publishing houses published a batch of new
books to sing the praise of monumental contributions of Deng Xiaoping, the
chief architect of China's socialist reform and opening up and modernization
drive, discuss his strategic thinking and recall his anecdotes.
In order to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of Comrade Deng Xiaoping's birth, the
General Political Department of the PLA issued a notice early this year,
asking the PLA publishing houses to publish a batch of commemorative new books
with outstanding ideological, theoretical and artistic value, and the PLA
publishing houses were determined to publish a batch of top-notch works to
commemorate Deng Xiaoping, the great man of the century.
As a great proletariat strategist, Deng
Xiaoping produced a great number of military articles, reports, speeches and
telegraphs, etc. in his life. However, there was not a single book that
systematically collected his military manuscripts. In view of this situation,
the Party Literature Research Center and the Academy of Military Sciences
planned to publish a book entitled The Collected Military Works by Deng
Xiaoping several years ago. In order to expound in a systematic way Deng
Xiaoping's strategic thinking, plans and decisions that had changed the fate
of China, the PLA Publishing House intended to publish a book entitled The
Great Strategy of Deng Xiaoping. Also, Deng Xiaoping's whole life was a
glorious one and a life full of legends, thus the PLA Publishing House decided
to publish a book entitled Deng Xiaoping's Anecdotes in an attempt to
tell of his ordinary life to the general reading public. In addition, some
other military publishing houses also worked out their plans to publish
various books depicting Deng Xiaoping from various different facets. As soon
as these military publishing houses put forward their tentative ideas to
publish the books on Deng Xiaoping, they were immediately confirmed and
supported by the various departments concerned, and among these books, the
Collected Military Works by Deng Xiaoping and The Great Strategy of
Deng Xiaoping were listed in the Top 100 books to mark the 100th
anniversary of Deng Xiaoping's birth by the General Administration of Press
and Publication.
Thanks to elaborate selection of
contributions and careful arrangements, all the books published by the
military publishing houses to mark the 100th anniversary of Deng Xiaoping's
birth have now evoked favorable response from general reading public and
become the best way to commemorate the great man.
