Chinese military medical equipment going abroad——Nine pieces of facilities to participate in peacekeeping in the DRC
A ship carrying a team of Chinese medical workers and nine types of
military medical equipment set sail for Africa on February 17 to join the UN
peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The medical team, dispatched at the request of the UN, has the
capability of treating 40 people and doing 4 major operations a day. To meet the
demand, the team has to have enough medical equipment as well as expertise.
"The nine types of equipment the team carry will not disappoint them",
military medical experts said with confidence. All of the nine medical
equipment, developed by the Chinese People's Liberation Army, have reached the
advanced international level and won high praises from the UN.
Among the 9 facilities, field ambulances, epidemic prevention truck and
field medical kits are the three most important ones for the team to carry out
their mission, according to Zhang Kai, commissar of the Sanitary Equipment
Research Institute under the Academy of Military Medical Sciences.
The field ambulances, with strong cross-county capability, can quickly
carry two wounded persons and one medical worker to the nearest hospital,
winning time for treatment. The medical workers can also make emergency
treatment on the wounded on the ambulances.
The epidemic prevention truck can be used to disinfect the room,
preventing the soldiers, civilians from being infected. The field medical kits
are easy to carry and can be unfolded to serve as operating platforms in an
emergency.
The equipment also include those that can test the quality of water and
food.
