Recently Gu Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the
Central Committee of CPC, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Cao
Gangchuan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC,
Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor and Defense
Minister, and Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of
the CPC and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, held seminars
respectively to seek proposals and opinions on the work of Central Military
Commission since the 16th National Congress of the CPC from the
principal leaders of the major military organizations and the Armed Police Force
and the leaders in charge of the related departments under the PLA four general
headquarters/departments.
Members of the Central Military Commission Liang Guanglie,
Li Jinai, Liao Xilong and Chen Bingde attended the seminars.
When they presided over the seminars, Guo Boxiong, Cao
Gangchuan and Xu Caihou said that it was a major policy decision made by the
Central Committee of the CPC with Comrade Hu Jintao as general secretary to
carry out the Party-wide education on maintaining the advanced nature of the
Party members with the implementation of the important thought of "Three
Represents" as its main content, in light of the new situation and new tasks
with an eye to upgrading the Party's governing capability and consolidating its
ruling status and accomplishing its ruling missions. To carry out education on
maintaining the advanced nature of the Party members in a deep-going way in the
army is a practical measure taken to implement the policy decision and
arrangements of the Central Committee of the CPC and a foundation engineering
for strengthening the Party building in the army and the inevitable requirements
of our army to have a political and organizational guarantee in order to fulfill
its historical missions in the new century and the new period. Chairman Hu
Jintao attached great importance to the educational activities on maintaining
the advanced nature of the Party members in the army, and he personally examined
and approved the plans on carrying out education activities in the army and on
the Central Military Commission leader's participation in the activities. The
Central Military Commission will unswervingly implements the decision and
requirements of the Central Committee of the CPC and Chairman Hu, and has made
careful arrangements for the educational activities in the army. In order to
make further clear about the train of thoughts on the work and the thrust in
future, lead the Party organizations at various levels and the officers and men
of the whole army still better, uphold Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important
thought of "Three Represents", implement Jiang Zemin's thinking on national
defense and army building, faithfully carry out the directives of the Central
Committee of the CPC and Chairman Hu, strive to accomplish the dual historical
mission of the leapfrog development of our army, and actively push forward
modernization of the national defense and the armed forces, the Central Military
Commission decided to hold seminars to seek proposals and opinions from the
concerned comrades.
A total of 22 leading comrades from the major military
organizations, the Armed Police Force and the PLA four general
headquarters/departments took the floor at the seminars, and all of them held
that the army had made new and great achievements in building itself into a more
revolutionary, modernized and regularized army under the leadership of the
Central Committee of the CPC and the Central Military Commission since the
16th National Congress of the CPC.
The attendees fully expressed their views on how to
strengthen political work and how to step up preparations for the military
struggle and promote the military changes with Chinese characteristics in
combination with the realities of the army building.
