Chinese groups in many countries have expressed support for Chinese President Hu
Jintao's speech on relations across the Taiwan Strait.
Wu Huiqiu, vice-president of the Washington chapter of the
China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, said that
President Hu Jintao's four guidelines on cross-Straits relations are pertinent
and will benefit the people of Taiwan.
Meanwhile, the president of the group in Chile, Peng
Fendou said that the four guidelines have historical significance.
Zheng Mingru, Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce
in Thailand, said the speech demonstrated the Chinese government's sincerity in
wishing to solve the Taiwan question.
