Xu stresses to hold high the great banner and comply with directions

military deputy to the NPC, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee
of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized at
the panel meeting of the PLA delegation at the 3rd Session of the 10th NPC that
the running year is the last year of the “10th Five-Year Plan” and an important
year to accelerate the military changes with Chinese characteristics. The key
for the army to carry out the spirit of the session is to lay special stress on
implementation with a truth-seeking and pragmatic spirit. We must hold high the
great banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of “Three
Represents”, submit ourselves unswervingly to the directions of the Central
Committee of the CPC, the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu, which
should be regarded as the fundamental political demand for ensuring a correct
orientation of army building and therefore, be carried out in strengthening our
political belief in the important thought of “Three Represents”, in the resolute
implementation of the decisions and directives of Chairman Hu and the Central
Military Commission and in the actual action of being subordinated to the
overall interest and supporting the on-going reform. We must seriously implement
the “Decisions” of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee
and the “Opinions” of the Central Military Commission and strengthen earnestly
the Party organizations at all levels, particularly in terms of making efforts
in building up capability and winning success so as to offer credible
organizational support for ensuring the army to obey command. We must follow the
requirements of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Central Military
Commission earnestly, do a real good job in the education of maintaining the
advanced nature of Party members and boost constructions in various fields to
achieve new successes.
