Li Jinai calls for maintaining correct political orientation in army building

Li Jinai,
NPC deputy of the PLA, member of the Central Military Commission and director of
the General Political Department, stressed at the PLA delegation panel
discussion on Mar. 6, that the PLA should earnestly study and implement the
spirits of the session, and faithfully achieve unity in thinking and in action
of the troops with the major strategic decisions of the Central Committee of the
CPC. He noted that the PLA must always put ideological-political building in the
first place, stick to the principle of arming the officers and men with the
Party's innovated theories, place the army under the absolute leadership of the
Party and resolutely obey the orders of the Central Committee of the CPC, the
Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu so as to ensure the correct
political orientation of the army building. Li Jinai also stressed that the PLA
should, by centering around its historical missions in the new century and new
period, serve the central task still better and ensure winning future war and
play a prominent role in pushing ahead with military changes with Chinese
characteristics and preparations for military struggle. He then emphasized that
the ongoing Party-wide education on maintaining the advanced nature of Party
members should be carried out in a deep-going way, and the Party building in the
army should be strengthened in an all-round way so as to give full play to roles
of the leading core and fighting bastions of the Party organizations and the
exemplary vanguard role of Party members. Efforts should also be made to build
study-oriented military barracks, and officers and men should vie with each
other to be learning-type of talents so as to speed up talents cultivation in
the army and provide human resources support for the modernization drive of our
army.
