BEIJING, Mar. 15 -- The African Union, Belarus, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia
and Montenegro have all expressed support for the adoption of the Anti-Secession
Law by China's National People's Congress, the country's top legislature.
When talking with Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Lin Lin, AU chairman
Alpha Oumar Konare said the AU absolutely supports China's adoption of the
Anti-Secession Law. He noted that the law not only concerns China's national
sovereignty and territorial integrity but also China's future development.
In a statement issued by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Belarus said the
Anti-Secession Law represents the ultimate interests of the Chinese people and
is conducive to peace and stability in the Asian Pacific region as well as the
rest of the world. The Belarusian government added that it supports China in
exerting its right to safeguard national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
A Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Pakistan supports the
"one-China" policy and that Taiwan is a part of China. He also said that
Pakistan appreciates and fully supports China's efforts to realize national
reunification.
Russia as well as Serbia and Montenegro have respectively showed their
understanding and support for the Anti-Secession Law adopted by China's National
People's Congress.
