Military community voices firm support to Anti-Secession Law
In the wake of the adoption
of the Anti-Secession Law with an overwhelming majority of yes votes at the
Third Session of the Tenth National People's Congress on March 14, officers and
men of the PLA and the Armed Police Force have offered their support and
endorsement. Phone calls, e-mails or fax messages from the broad officers and
men poured into the Editorial Board of the PLA Daily sharing their views that
the Law has fully expressed the Chinese people's strong will and determination
to maintain the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,
and is a law that upholds peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits, promotes
the peaceful reunification of the motherland, and therefore is in line with the
basic interests of the Chinese nation as a whole.
Over the past few years, officers and men have seen clearly that the
“Taiwan Independence” forces have revved up its secessionist activities, such as
“de-sinicization” and “Taiwan's name rectification”, and attempted to fabricate
“legal grounds for Taiwan's Independence” by resorting to the so-called
“referendum” and “constitution-making”. Numerous officers and men called our
newspaper and said that the adoption of the Anti-Secession Law has provided a
powerful legal weapon for opposing and curbing the “Taiwan
Independence”secessionist activities, and is winning mounting and extensive
support from the international community. We will support the law resolutely,
and uphold the authority and honor of the law with powerful actions.
For days on end, all troops of the PLA as well as the National Defense
University, the Academy of Military Sciences, the University of National Defense
Technology and officers and men of the Armed Police Force have been holding
seminars and discussions, and have stated that the Anti-Secession Law will
surely be translated into a powerful cohesive force and driving force, which
will encourage and inspire the officers and men to do a better job in various
work hinging on preparation for military struggle in higher spirit, and to
submit a qualified answer sheet of “being capable of winning and never
degenerate” to the Party and the people. Officers and men of the Shenyang,
Beijing, Jinan, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Lanzhou Military Area Commands have been
organizing activities of giving lectures and singing contests and the like to
express their strong resolution to devote to the peaceful reunification and to
fight against the “Taiwan Independence”. They have all stated: We have the
resolution, confidence and ability to smash any intentions and provocations
aiming at splitting the motherland, and are determined to safeguard the national
sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
