BEIJING, April 28
(Xinhuanet) -- Kuomintang (KMT) spokesman Chang Jung-kung said here
Thursday that he hopes an institutionalized mechanism will be established
to facilitate the exchanges between KMT and the Communist Party of China
(CPC).
According to Chang, the
KMT-CPC exchanges should be continued and enhanced after the mainland
visit of KMT chairman Lien Chan.
At a press conference, Chang
briefed the key points of Lien's talk with Jia Qinglin, member of the
Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee,
in the evening of April 28.
Lien said, according to
Chang, that his visit to the Chinese mainland is of historical
significance to the peace and development across the Taiwan Straits and
will serve to improve the exchange situation between the parties.
Lien said he had brought
about the mainstream opinions of the Taiwan public and KMT hopes to play a
pusher's role in ushering ina new era for cross-Strait relations.
After the adoption of the
Anti-Sesession Law by the National People's Congress, Lien had said that
the nativism view doesn't equal the Taiwan independence one, and the
independence forces cannot represent the general public of Taiwan.
KMT hopes cross-Strait
relations should never be worsened simply because of some words by the
minority independence forces, he
said. |
