HONG KONG, May 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese Kuomintang(KMT) Party Chairman Lien Chan arrived at the Hong Kong international airport Tuesday afternoon after his eight-day mainland visit.

Lien and his KMT delegation arrived at the airport at 3:07 p.m.(0707 GMT) by the China Eastern Airlines Flight MU705 from Shanghai and will leave for Taiwan by Dragonair Flight KA482 at about 6:10 p.m. (1010 GMT).

They were greeted at the airport by Xing Kuishan, Assistant to the Director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Stephen Lam Sui-lung, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government Secretary for Constitutional Affairs. Xing and Stephen Lam congratulated Lien on his successful visit to the mainland, and Lien thanked them for the congratulation.

Lien and the delegation, at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and its General Secretary Hu Jintao, visited the mainland cities of Nanjing, Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai from April 26 to May 3.

During his tour, Lien met with Hu, realizing the first formal dialogue between the top leaders of the CPC and the KMT in 60 years, and reached a consensus on jointly promoting developments in five aspects of work. All this has had strong repercussions both at home and abroad and is regarded as having created a new turning point for the relations across the Taiwan Straits.
