"The year 2005 stands out to be an unusual in the sense that it will mark both the international voyage of peace by Zheng He's fleet 600 hundred years ago and the victories of the anti-fascist war staged by the world people and the war of anti-Japanese aggression waged by Chinese people 60 year ago, endowing the year with great commemorative significance. It is a coincidence, but much more than that: it gives expression to the heartfelt wishes of the world people." Said Mr. Zhang Baoyin, secretary general of Beijing Society for Studying Zheng He's Navigation of the Oceans.

　　"Zheng He's fleet boasted mighty naval power, but never played the bully, never looted the wealth of the other countries, and never practiced colonial expansion. Instead, they acted in line with the principle of 'advocating influencing people with virtue and dealing with foreigners with kindness' and 'shared the happiness of enjoying peace' with foreign people of various nationalities, which benefited both the country of the visitors and those being visited. This shows that their motive of making the voyage was worlds apart from that of the Western exploring fleets".

　　Wherever Zheng He's fleet went, they were greatly welcomed and respected by the countries they visited, and as a result, hundreds even thousands of guests, including ministers even kings of some countries, would follow Zheng He's fleet to visit China at the end of each voyage. Some countries or places Zheng He visited has kept various mementos and remains related to him and legends about him even today. Example are the Sanbao Temple in Thailand, the Sanbao Cave in Indonesia, the Zheng He Statue in India, the Zheng He Villages in Somalia and Kenya, to name but a few. "The historical remains are the evidence showing that Zheng He's fleet was greatly welcomed, and likewise the display of the longing of the world people for mutual exchanges in the sectors of economy and culture, and for peace and development." Said Sun Zhiguo, the secretary general of China International Exchange Promotion Society, with a strong feeling.

　　"This year, the 600th anniversary of Zheng He's navigation of the oceans will be celebrated all over China focusing on promoting 'friendly and good neighbors', which fits in well with world trend of peace and development, and meanwhile, presents the confidence and determination of the 1.3 billion Chinese on realizing the great rejuvenation of China to the whole world." Sun said.
