In the forcible separation operation of the China-Russia Joint Military
Exercise scheduled for yesterday, a new type of air-to-ground missile developed
by China was fired by a bombardment aviation division of the PLA Air Force. The
reporters boarded a bomber specially to witness the historical moment.
At 10:33am, the bomber with the reporters in roared into the sky, which was
quickly joined by another new type of bomber to form a team.
They arrived in the airspace, where the missile would be launched,
according to the preset time and pitch point.
At that time, the navigator switched on the missile propulsive plant, and a
serious of procedures started. The lights were on one after another, which
eventually gave away to the green light flashing on the screen and the words
"ready to launch" were seen.
At 11:14am, the operator pressed the red launch button immediately and the
missile roared out toward the target dozens of miles away. The reporters saw on
the operating screen long tracks of missile trajectory leading to the targets on
the ground. Suddenly, a flint of light was noticed and with that one target on
the ground was turned to smoke in a split of a second.
