PLA Daily 2005-08-30 About 140 people from Japan-China associations in Tokyo and other prefectures across Japan met at a movie reception in Tokyo on Monday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of China's victory over the Japanese aggressors as well as the victory of World War II (WWII). At the movie reception sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Japan, counselor Sun Meijiao said that Japan's aggression war brought severe damage and sufferings to both Chinese and Japanese people. The history can not be forgotten or distorted, the counselor stressed, adding that Chinese people cherish and will continue to make contribution to world peace and prosperity. The participants watched "The Ding of Qingliang Temple", a feature movie jointly produced by Chinese and Japanese filmmakers about a Japanese orphan and his Chinese foster parents during the war. "The heart-warming movie reflects sincere love in this special family, their hate on aggression and aspiration for peace," a Japanese audience said, calling for more Japanese to watch the film for better study on the history.
