
Nie Haisheng : Born in Zaoyang, Hubei Province in
September 1964. He joined the PLA in June 1983, and graduated from the No.7
Flying Academy of the PLA Air Force in 1987. He once served as a pilot in an
aviation division of the PLA Air Force with 1,480 safe flying hours under his
belt, and was awarded the title of the First-Class Pilot. In January 1998, he
became a member of the first Chinese astronauts group, and in September 2003 he
became a member of the echelon astronauts of China's first manned space flight
program.
