SINGAPORE, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Singaporean leaders on Wednesday hailed the successful launch of China's second manned spacecraft Shenzhou-6, saying that it is an impressive achievement and a historic occasion for China and the whole world.

　　In his congratulatory letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao, Singapore's President S.R. Nathan said that on behalf of the people of Singapore, he extended his warmest congratulations to Huand the people of the People's Republic of China on the successful launch of China's second manned space mission.

　　"This is a proud moment for all Chinese," he said, adding that "the scientific and technological advances that have taken place since China's historic first manned space mission on 15 October 2003 are clearly evident."

　　He wished Hu continued success in leading China towards greaterheights in space exploration.

　　Meanwhile, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also senta congratulatory letter to his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao.

　　"This second mission builds upon the success of China's first manned space mission on 15 October 2003, and reflects the remarkable progress made by China in the field of space exploration within the short span of two years. It is an impressive achievement and a historic occasion for China and the world," he said.

　　China launched its second manned spacecraft Shenzhou-6 at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province at 9:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning, sending twoastronauts into space.

　　Shenzhou-6, the country's first multi-manned and multi-day space flight, is the first time for Chinese to conduct space tests with human participation.
