A public lecture on outstanding meritorious deeds of the Shenzhou VI manned
space fight was held in Beijing Space Town yesterday afternoon. Chen Bingde,
member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Armaments
Department(GAD) of the PLA, attended the lecture, and Zhu Fazhong, deputy
director of the General Armaments Department, presided over the lecture.
Nine heroes who have rendered outstanding service to China's manned space
program including Zhou Jianping, deputy chief designer of China's manned space
engineering project, Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng, two astronauts of the PLA
Astronauts Group, Song Zhengyu, deputy chief designer of the Long March II-F
rocket, Jin Yong, deputy chief commander of the spaceship system, Wang Xuewu,
rocket testing and launching commander of the launching site system, Sun
Baosheng, deputy chief designer of the telemetry tracking and control
communication system, Zhao Guangheng, deputy chief designer of the application
system, and He Hongzhan, director of the Science and Technology Division of the
Landing Field under the Xi'an Satellite Measuring and Control Center gave a
lecture on the moving stories of those involved in this great undertaking. Over
1,500 officers and men from the General Armaments Department headquarters and
its affiliated troops stationed in Beijing listened to the public lecture.
