On the morning of Dec 28, the commemorative sheet of stamps of the Chinese
Marshals carried into the space by the Shenzhou VI spacecraft were solemnly
presented to the relatives of the nine PRC marshals by the General Armaments
Department of the PLA, and some of these sheet of stamps have been collected by
the National Museum and the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution,
etc.
It happened to be the 50th anniversary of the PLA to confer military ranks
to its officers and men this year. Thus, the Chinese Manned Space Program Office
and the Chinese Philately General Company decided to jointly design and print
the special commemorative sheet of stamps of the Chinese Marshals as special
load of the Shenzhou VI spacecraft. The sheet of stamps later traveled in the
space for 115 hours and 32 minutes along with the two heroic Chinese astronauts.
