"Nowadays we should not only build barracks with sound ecological
environment, but also consider how to eliminate dust and noise pollutions and
how to remove harmful effects of garbage through disposal so as to turn our
military barracks into environment-friendly barracks as soon as possible." said
Deputy Du Yunsheng, director of the Capital Construction & Barracks
Department of the General Logistics Department of the PLA. Looking into the
future, Du said, the PLA general headquarters/departments will attach great
importance to the following four aspects during the 11th Five-Year Plan period
in terms of environmental protection, namely increasing the investment,
improving the related rules and regulations, devoting more efforts to tackling
problems in key technologies, and fostering a contingent of specialized
personnel so as to provide the PLA officers and men with a still better living
environment.
Hao Daohai, NPC deputy working in the engineering troops of the Second
Artillery Force for over 30 years, said: "An environment-friendly society means
that we should maintain harmonious relations and make friends with nature." For
years, the engineering troops of the Second Artillery Force has paid special
attention to environmental protection when carrying out construction in the
remote mountains with little trace of human habitation.
