　　Building up a new socialist countryside has been highlighted in the government work report this year. Many NPC deputies and CPPCC members from the PLA said that the army should earnestly implement the scientific outlook on development and actively make proposals on how to build up a new socialist countryside.

　　NPC Deputy Tang Xinqiu said that building up a new socialist countryside is a long-term project, to which the PLA should play an active role. Most PLA officers and men are from the rural areas, thus they have all the more responsibility to support the rural development so as to build up their own hometowns.

　　CPPCC Member Sun Fu suggested that military and civilian departments at various levels should strengthen their contacts, especially in their work concerning key construction projects, urban constructions and in the work building up new socialist countryside, actively organize militia, reserve forces and the PLA troops stationed in the local areas to take on the emergent, difficult, dangerous and heavy tasks, and make new contributions to the development of local economy and social stability.
