BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhuanet) -- People's Daily, the leading newspaper in
China, will carry on Tuesday an editorial which hails the closing of the annual
session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC),
China's top advisory body.
Members of the CPPCC National Committee reviewed the work of the committee
and discussed the government work report delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao at the
annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), the draft 11th Five-Year
Plan for National Economic and Social Development (2006-2010) and other
important reports.
The editorial cites the CPPCC National Committee members as saying that the
government work report is "truth-seeking, pragmatic and encouraging", and has
highlighted the adoption of a scientific approach to command the economic and
social development in China.
The CPPCC will contribute greatly to the unification of the motherland, to
the promotion of national resurgence, and to the maintenance of world peace as
China is committed to build a harmonious society, the editorial says.
The Fourth Session of the 10th National Committee of the CPPCC, which
opened on March 3, concluded on Monday morning in Beijing.
