Mao Zedong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was the Chairman of the Soviet Republic of China when the Red Army started its Long March. After the Zunyi Meeting, Mao was elected member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the 3-person military leading group of the Red Army, political commissar of the Frontier Headquarters of the Central Red Army and political commissar of the Red Army Shannxi-Gansu Detachment.
