Yesterday afternoon, 67 military attaches, deputy military attachés from 26
countries and their wives and children arrived in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet
Autonomous Region for a three-day visit. It is the second time the foreign
military attachés to China have been organized by the Chinese Ministry of
National Defense to visit Tibet following the first trip in 2003.
The military attachés group first came to the Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd.
and Tibetan Traditional Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory, where they visited the
preparation workshop, extraction workshop and medicinal material warehouse of
the new factory and the showroom in the old factory, and had the chance to
personally feel the magical power of the Tibetan medicine and pharmacological
culture. In the coming days, military attachés group is scheduled to listen to
the briefing given by the Tibetan Military Area Command, visit PLA troops and
the Lhasa Municipal Kindergarten, and tour famous scenic spots and historical
sites in the city.
In the evening on the day of their arrival, Dong Guishan, commander of the
Tibet Military Command, hosted a welcoming reception in honor of the military
attachés while the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Tibet Military Command and the
Tibetan Opera Troupe of the Tibet Autonomous Region gave a wonderful performance
to entertain military attaches and their wives and children.
Nyima Tsering, vice chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, attended the
reception and accompanied the foreign military attachés group to watch the
performance.
