These schools are mainly located along the Long March route and in 89
counties (cities) in some old revolutionary base areas. Even phonetics
classrooms, multi-media classrooms, electronic lesson preparation rooms and
campus LANs are built in some schools. As a result, the study environment for a
great batch of students in the poverty-stricken areas along the Long March route
has been improved significantly and the enrolment rate of the children of school
age has been upped accordingly.
In order to observe the 70th anniversary of the victory of the
Red Army's Long March with actual deeds, the construction of these schools began
in early April this year in accordance with the written instructions of the
leaders of the Central Military Commission and the general
headquarters/departments of the PLA and by following the unified arrangement of
the General Political Department of the PLA. Most of these schools are built in
the places where major battles were fought, or important conferences were held,
or in the places that have milestone memorable significance, e.g. Ruijin in
Jiangxi Province, Zunyi in Guizhou Province and Huining in Gansu Province.
