Upon the approval of Chairman Hu Jintao and the Central Military
Commission, the PLA four general headquarters/departments held a ceremony to
issue 07' new-type military uniforms to some officers and men yesterday in
Beijing. Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of
the General Logistic Department of the PLA, attended the ceremony and made a
speech.
Liao Xilong stressed in his speech that military uniform is an important
embodiment of the image of an army and its servicemen, and an important symbol
of national and military prestige. Gallant military bearing and strict military
disciplines are the basic requirements for the building of a regularized army.
Thus all the commanders and fighters of the PLA should adhere to the principle
of running the army strictly, strictly observe various rules and regulations,
the uniform regulations and the regulations on military bearing and discipline
and cultivate the fine style so as to reinforce the PLA's image as a powerful,
civilized and victorious force and push the PLA's regularization drive to a new
height. He urged all the officers and men to cherish their honor, faithfully
fulfill their mission and create first-rate achievements to greet the 80th
anniversary of the founding of the PLA and the successful convening of the 17th
National Congress of the CPC.
