The PLA working conference on upgrading of military uniforms was held in Beijing yesterday, Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the PLA General Logistics Department, attended and addressed the conference. He stressed that we must be grateful to the Central Committee of the CPC, the State Council, the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu Jintao for their kind concern and loving care for the officers and men of the PLA, fully understand the important significance of the current uniform upgrading, correctly understand its profound connotation and basic spirit, and do a good job of uniform change for officers and men of the PLA.

　　Liao Xilong pointed out that the current uniform upgrading is a big event in the history of the army building. It is a practical measure taken to implement a series of important thinking on the army building of Chairman Hu Jintao, an essential requirement for all-roundly implementing a scientific outlook on development to improve army building in all its aspects and a practical demand for enhancing the cohesive power and combat competence of the troops, thus it is of great significance and has far-reaching influence. He noted that by proceeding from actual conditions of our country and the army, the current uniform upgrading has been done by carrying forward the tradition, embracing reform and innovation and doing design and planning elaborately and in a scientific way, and has made new breakthroughs in both concept and functions, it is the most comprehensive, most systematic and most smooth uniform upgrading in the PLA history, indicating that a historical leapfrog progress has been made in uniform upgrading in the PLA history.
