The portrait of huang Jiguang
Huang Jiguang was born in Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province. He joined
the Chinese People's Volunteers in March 1951. He fought bravely and won a
third-class merit citation. During the Shangganling Battle of the War to Resist
U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea in October 1952, Huang Jiguang blocked enemy's
loopholes setting off flames inside the blockhouse with his chest for the sake
of rapidly eliminating the central firepower of the enemy and seizing the No.0
position, thus sacrificing his life bravely. Under the inspiration of his
magnificent feat, the Chinese people's volunteers occupied the No.0 Position
rapidly and annihilated two battalions of the enemy. After the battle, he was
posthumously admitted to the membership of the Communist Party of China, was
awarded a special-class merit and was conferred with the title of "Special-Class
Hero". The Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea posthumously granted him with the title of "Hero of
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea", a Gold-Star Medal and a First-Class
Medal of National Flag.
