On July 7, 1937, the Lugouqiao (Marco Polo Bridge) Incident broke out, thus
began the nationwide War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China. On
August 25, 1937, the first, second and forth front armies of the Chinese
Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the Red Army troops in north Shaanxi were
redesignated as the Eighth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army
according to the order issued by the CPC Central Military
Commission.
