The troops of various complexions participating in the "Peace Mission 2007"
military exercise station in the "camping village"---the base camp of the
Chebarkul drill site. The officers and men have various ways to communicate in
their work, training and life although they speak different languages and have
different customs and habits.
The song and dance troupe of the Ural Military Command near the Volga River
came all the way to perform for the Chinese officers and men participating in
joint military exercise on August 4. However, the weather was not cooperative,
it started to rain all of a sudden. And yet, it failed to dampen the enthusiasm
of both sides: the performers of the Russian army kept on with their performance
on the stage braving the rain, and the Chinese officers and men sat there tight
and upright, watched the performance in gallant array and responded with loud
and warm applause now and then.
In order to show the spirit of unity and coordination, the troops of
different countries participating in joint military exercise sent personnel to
form several mixed basketball teams and volleyball teams, thanks to the proposal
of the Chinese officers and men. After a short time of practicing together, they
held several games.
The foreign officers and men are quite interested in the Chinese kongfu.
The PLA Special Force soldiers often show their unique skills to the foreign
officers and men who come over to learn from them in spare time. It does not
take long for the repute of the marvelous Chinese kongfu to get around in the
"camping village". When the foreign officers and men run into the Chinese
servicemen, they will give the thump-up sign to the Chinese servicemen and shout
in awkward Chinese: "Zhongguo Kongfu". In addition, the Chinese traditional
sports like tug-of-war and hand wrestling contest have also got very popular in
the village.
