After rounding off their mission, the Chinese servicemen participating the
joint anti-terror military exercise coded "Peace Mission 2007" began to leave
Russia for China on August 18 with the first group flying back from Shagol
Airport of Russia.
According to the Chinese Exercise Directing Group, the troops would return
by the same way and same route of projection as they did when they headed for
Russia. The last batch of the Chinese officers and men who would be coming back
by train was set to enter China via Manzhouli Port on August 26.
"Though the exercise was wrapped up in great success, it has not come to a
successful close until all Chinese participating troops return to China safely,
smoothly and timely," said Lu Chuangang, head of the Command Sub-group of the
Chinese Exercise Directing Group. He noted that as an important part of the
exercise, troop projection is both the premise of a successful exercise and the
symbol for Chinese side to round off the exercise in complete success.
Lu Chuangang stated that being the first massive, organic, multi-services
and arms, and long-range transnational troop projection done by the Chinese
armed forces, the on-going troop projection was a all-round test of the remote
maneuverability of the Chinese armed forces, and more than that, it would also
facilitate the Chinese armed forces to accumulate considerable practical
experiences.
