Lu Chuangang, leader of the commanding team of the Chinese directing group
of the joint anti-terrorism military exercise of "Peace Mission 2007" staged by
the armed forces of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
(SCO), stated in Beijing yesterday that the joint military exercise scored
fruitful achievements. Militarily, the achievements are primarily manifested in
the exchange of the results of studying the combat theories on anti-terrorism
among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO),
improvement of the operational mechanism of the joint anti-terrorism operation,
and the test of the joint operational tactics of anti-terrorism.
Lu Chuangang made the remarks at the videoconference held by the Russian
Information Agency to comment on the achievements of the joint anti-terrorism
military exercise codenamed "Peace Mission 2007" staged by the armed forces of
the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The conference
was held simultaneously in two separate venues--Beijing and Moscow respectively,
and the participants included the responsible person of the Anti-Terrorism
Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the military attachés
from relevant countries to Russia.
Lu Chuangang briefed that the joint military exercise tested and improved
the operational mechanisms in handling the regional terrorist crisis and
carrying out joint anti-terrorism operations, and probed into the process,
contents, methods and support of the joint command. In particular, the
capability of conducting joint anti-terrorism operation has been raised through
such operations as actual joint reconnaissance, capture and control of the key
points, area-by-area cleaning-up operation, strike at enemy reinforcement
through maneuver, three-dimensional pursue and wipe-out, etc. conducted by the
multinational ground forces and air forces during the exercise, thus laying a
foundation for future joint anti-terrorism operations.
