Upon the approval of the Central Military Commission, the PLA summary meeting of the joint anti-terror military exercise coded "Peace Mission 2007" was held in Beijing on Sept 15, at which Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with the attendees and made a speech.

　　Cao Gangchuan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor and minister of national defense, and Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, joined Guo Boxiong in meeting the attendees. Besides, members of the Central Military Commission Liang Guanglie, Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chen Bingde, Qiao Qingchen and Jing Zhiyuan participated in the meeting.

　　Guo Boxiong pointed out that the joint anti-terror military exercise coded "Peace Mission 2007" makes the first time for the PLA to field quite a massive force consisting of troops from the Army and the Air Force overseas to participate in a multinational joint military exercise, and for that matter, is of great political, diplomatic and military significance. The exercise features long-range force projection, complicated exercise environment, more participant countries and drawing extensive attentions from home and abroad. Thanks to the correct leadership and the kind concern of Chairman Hu Jintao and the Central Military Commission, as well as the vigorous support of the relevant departments of the Central Committee of the CPC and state organs, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Manzhouli City of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the general headquarters/departments and the participant troops of the PLA successfully fulfilled the task of the military exercise after devoting great efforts to it. The positive results and experience gained in the exercise will be of important values of reference to the military training and military diplomacy of the PLA.

　　Liang Guanglie summed up at the meeting the major characteristics, positive results and achievements of taking part in the joint military exercise, and advanced some comments and requirements concerning carrying out in a deep going way the important instructions of Chairman Hu Jintao of the Central Military Commission, firmly taking hold of development of the international and domestic situations, taking vigorous measures and enhancing the army's capability to fulfill diversified military tasks.

　　During the meeting, the leaders of the relevant departments of the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA, the Air Force and the Lanzhou Military Area Command respectively gave a briefing about their experience of partaking in the military exercise. The Beijing Military Area Command and the Xinjiang Military Area Command presented written statements. Moreover, ten advanced units and 45 advanced individuals who made outstanding performances in the joint military exercise were cited in a circular issued by the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA.
