The red earth in Kunming, popularly known as the "City of
Perpetual Spring" witnessed not only the friendship between the officers and men
of Chinese and Indian armed forces but also the landmark first-ever joint
anti-terrorism military training by Chinese and Indian ground forces.
The three-phase China-India ground forces joint anti-terrorism military
training, codenamed "Hand-in-hand 2007", lasted from Dec. 19 to 27 on a training
ground in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province. During the first phase, Chinese
and Indian soldiers displayed their own weapons and equipment and exchanged
military tactics. Then, they jointly accomplished a series of training tasks
including psychological training, barrier training and comprehensive training of
individual tactics in the second phase and conducted a detachment comprehensive
training focusing on the subjects of "joint anti-terror action in mountainous
area" in the third phase.
The joint anti-terror training has improved the anti-terror combat ability
of Chinese and Indian armed forces, enhanced mutual understanding and mutual
trust between them and promoted the all-round development of the strategic
cooperative partnership towards peace and prosperity between the two countries.
