In the "camping village", officers and men from the member
countries of the SCO participating in the "Peace Mission 2007" joint military
exercise have established profound friendship through days of living and
training together. The picture shows Chinese soldiers teaching Russian soldiers

The PLA began to all-roundly participate in the joint military exercises in
early 1980s.
In October 2002, China held a joint anti-terror military exercise with
Kyrgyzstan. It indicated the first actual-troop exercise that Chinese troops
held jointly with foreign troops. It is learned that since 2002, the PLA has
successively held 18 joint military exercises of varied types with related
countries. Of which, more influential exercises include the joint military
exercise codenamed "Peace Mission 2005" held in August 2005 by Chinese and
Russian armed forces in Vladivostock, Russia and Shandong, China, and the joint
anti-terror military exercise codenamed "Peace Mission 2007" sponsored by the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and conducted by the armed forces of all
the member countries of the SCO in China and Russia in August 2007.
In September and November 2006, Chinese and U.S. navies held the first
maritime joint rescue exercise in the history of both countries in the sea areas
off San Diego, US, and in the South China Sea, which wrote a thick stroke in
deepening the military exchanges between the two countries.
