¡¡¡¡-- Oct. 10 to 11, 2002, China-Kyrgyzstan

¡¡¡¡The PLA and the armed forces of Kyrgyzstan held a joint anti-terror military exercise on the border of the two countries. It was the first time for China to hold a military maneuver with foreign military forces and also the first bilateral anti-terror exercise conducted by members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

¡¡¡¡-- Aug. 6 to 12, 2003, SCO member nations

¡¡¡¡Armed forces from five SCO member countries including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in a joint anti-terror exercise named "Coalition 2003". It was the first exercise of its kind within the framework of the SCO and also the first time China participated in multilateral joint military maneuvers.

¡¡¡¡-- Oct. 22, 2003, China-Pakistan

¡¡¡¡On Oct. 22, 2003, Chinese and Pakistani naval forces conducted a joint search and rescue exercise off the coast of Shanghai in the East China Sea. It was the first time Chinese naval forces held a joint exercise with a foreign counterpart since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

¡¡¡¡-- Nov. 14, 2003, China-India

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Indian naval forces conducted a joint search and rescue exercise off the coast of Shanghai in the East China Sea, the first between the two armed forces.

¡¡¡¡-- March 16, 2004, China-France

¡¡¡¡Chinese navy held its first-ever maritime drills with its French counterpart, off the coast of East China's Qingdao city.

¡¡¡¡-- June 20, 2004, China-Britain

¡¡¡¡Chinese and British navies held a joint search and rescue exercise off the coast of East China's Qingdao city. It's the first maritime exercise the Chinese and British navies have ever held.

¡¡¡¡-- Aug. 6, 2004, China-Pakistan

¡¡¡¡The PLA and the Armed Forces of Pakistan held an anti-terrorism exercise at Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, northwest China's Uygur Autonomous Region, bordering Pakistan.

¡¡¡¡-- Aug. 28, 2004, China-India

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Indian frontier troops held a joint mountaineering training, the first of its kind between the two armed forces, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

¡¡¡¡-- Oct. 2004, China-Australia

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Australian navies held joint maritime exercise off the coast of East China's Yellow Sea.

¡¡¡¡-- Aug. 17-25, 2005, China-Russia

¡¡¡¡China and Russia held their first joint military exercises, code-named Peace Mission 2005. The one-week maneuvers, which involved 10,000 troops from the two countries, started in Vladivostok in Russia's Far East and later moved to east China's Shandong Peninsula.

¡¡¡¡--Nov. 24, 2005, China-Pakistan

¡¡¡¡China and Pakistan held a joint maritime search and rescue exercise in a sea area adjacent to the Port of Karachi, Pakistan.

¡¡¡¡--Dec. 1,2005, China-India

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Indian navies held a joint maritime search and rescue exercise at the sea area adjacent to the Port of Cochin, India.

¡¡¡¡--Dec. 13, 2005, China-Thiland

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Thai navies held a joint maritime search and rescue exercise at the sea area adjacent to the Port of Sattahip, Thailand.

¡¡¡¡--Sept. 20, 2006, China-US

¡¡¡¡Chinese and US navies held a joint maritime search and rescue exercise (phase I) at the sea area adjacent to the Port of San Diego, USA.

¡¡¡¡--Sept. 22-23, 2006, China-Tajikistan

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Tajik troops held a joint counter-terrorism military exercise in the Hatlon Prefecture, Tajikistan.

¡¡¡¡--Nov. 18-19, 2006, China-US

¡¡¡¡Chinese and US navies held a joint maritime search and rescue exercise (phase II) in South China Sea, China.

¡¡¡¡--Dec. 11-18, 2006, China-Pakistan

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Pakistani troops held a joint counter-terrorism military exercise in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

¡¡¡¡--Mar. 8-11, 2007, Multinational maritime military drill

¡¡¡¡The second, at-sea phase of AMAN-07, or Peace-07, the multinational maritime military drill hosted by Pakistan, was held between March 8 and 11. Twelve warships from Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Britain, the US, France and Italy formed a single file on the Indian Ocean, ready for a series of drills.

¡¡¡¡--Sept. 10, 2007, China-Britain

¡¡¡¡Two Chinese naval vessels on Sept 10 conducted a first ever joint exercise with British aircraft carrier Ark Royal in the Atlantic sea near the southern British port city of Portsmouth.

¡¡¡¡--Sept. 18, 2007, China-Spain

¡¡¡¡Chinese and Spanish naval vessels on Sept 18 conducted their first ever joint military exercise in the Atlantic Ocean. Chinese guided-missile destroyer Guangzhou along with Spanish frigate Reina Sofia and a patrol ship participated in the search and rescue exercise dubbed "China-Spanish Friendship-2007."

¡¡¡¡--Sept. 25, 2007, China-France

¡¡¡¡Naval forces of China and France conducted a joint military exercise in the Mediterranean Sea on Sept 25. The "China-France Friendship 2007" drill in the Mediterranean Sea off the southern French port city of Toulon was the first of its kind between the two navies in the Mediterranean.

¡¡¡¡-- Aug. 9-17, 2007, SCO member nations

¡¡¡¡The joint anti-terrorism military exercise code-named "Peace Mission-2007" was jointly held by the current six member countries of SCO in Chelyabinsk in Russia's Ural mountainous region and Urumqi, capital of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. More than 4,000 troops from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in the exercise, the largest of its kind within the framework of SCO since the organization was founded on June 15, 2001.

¡¡¡¡--Dec. 21-25, 2007, China-India

¡¡¡¡The Chinese and Indian armies kick off their first joint anti-terrorism military training in Kunming of southwest China's Yunnan Province on Dec. 21. The two armies each dispatched about 100 ground troops for the training, code-named "Hand-in-Hand 2007".
