Two performing troupes organized by the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA left Beijing yesterday for Jiangxi and Guangdong Provinces to give special performances in disaster-stricken areas, bringing with them the kind concern and warm regards of the Central Military Commission and the PLA general headquarters/departments to the officers and men and the local people fighting snow-triggered disasters.

　　The two performing troupes are made up of over 30 performers from the Song and Dance Troupe, the Drama Troupe and the Opera Troupe of the General Political Department of the PLA and the PLA Military Band, who will sing songs, perform skits and quyi (Chinese folk vocal art forms rich in local flavors, including ballad singing, story-telling, comic dialogues, clapper talks, cross talks, etc) and play instrumental music for the masses of people and the officers and men of the troops combating natural disasters in disaster-stricken areas.
