BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda will pay an official visit to China from Dec. 27-30 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Yasuo Fukuda was born into a political family on July 16, 1936 in Gumma Prefecture. He graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics in Waseda University in 1959. Fukuda was elected into the House of Representatives in 1990. Since then, he has been vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, vice secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), vice chairman of LDP's Policy Research Council, and chief of Cabinet Secretariat. On Sept. 25, 2007, he was elected Japan's 91st prime minister. Fukuda has paid several visits to China. His wife is Kiyoko Fukuda. [ 2008-05-07] |
