    On the eve of June 26, the International Day Against Drug Abuse, the reporters learnt from the Frontier Defense Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security that a piece of good news came in from the Armed Police frontier defense troops fighting against drug abuse that on June 10, the Baoshan Frontier Defense Detachment of the Armed Police Yunnan Frontier Defense Contingent successfully clamped down on a family gang involved in drug trafficking, captured 51.4939 kilograms of heroin, 3.4347 kilograms of amphetamine chloride, one 54-type military pistol with 11 rounds of cartridges, and 45 rounds of small-caliber rifle cartridges, and seized eight suspects and two vehicles for transporting drugs.

  On June 6, 2008, the 6th Detachment of the Armed Police Guangdong Frontier Defense Contingent cracked a large drug-trafficking case. It captured six criminal suspects, confiscated 5,171 grams of drugs including ice, marijuana,etc., detained drug money of 663,800 yuan, HK$ 9,300 and froze 469,000 yuan of bank deposits. According to sources, the case is the first one involving two or more provinces cracked by the detachment.
