"Chinese engineering peacekeepers have taken very good security
precautionary measures, and all peacekeeping troops from various countries in
the war theatre should learn from and draw on the useful experience from the
Chinese peacekeepers," said Col. Gorrie, the commander of the Second War Theater
of the UN Special Mission to Sudan, recently when he inspected the 4th batch of
the Chinese peacekeeping engineering group. He also spoke highly of the
three-dimensional defense system built up by the Chinese peacekeepers in light
of the security situation in the war theater and requested the Chinese engineers
to make constructive suggestions to help and support the peacekeeping forces
from other countries to strengthen their defense capabilities.
Along with the effective implementation of the Comprehensive Peace
Agreement in Sudan, various latent unfavorable factors have become visible, as a
result the peacekeeping forces in Sudan are confronted with many security
issues. After the 4th batch of the Chinese peacekeeping engineering group
arrived at the mission zone, it swiftly established a three-dimensional defense
system for the purpose of fulfilling the peacekeeping missions as well as
ensuring its own safety.
In addition, the Chinese peacekeeping engineering group also actively
maintains close contact with the operation department, military observers and
peacekeeping policemen in the war theater in order to keep abreast with the
latest development of security situation and work out countermeasures before it
is too late.
