¡¡¡¡The fourth batch of the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment, which
arrived in Wau, Sudan not long ago, had won loud praise from various quarters
with its excellent service and superb medical skills.
¡¡¡¡Pakistani serviceman: "We are heartily grateful to Chinese
hospital."
¡¡¡¡On the afternoon of July 6, Pakistani servicemen held a special party, at
which exquisite pastries, coffee, and Pakistani special products were prepared
for Chinese guests in the barracks of Pakistani air force detachment. A
Pakistani serviceman said that they wanted to receive the Chinese guests with
greatest courtesy.
¡¡¡¡Why a Chinese peacekeeping detachment that had just arrived its mission
zone not long ago was accorded such great courtesy?
¡¡¡¡Captain A. Dennen, a Pakistani pilot, told us the reason. Some ten days
ago, he was bitten by a poisonous insect on the back of his neck, before long
his whole neck became red and swollen and he found it difficult to turn his head
around. After being treated in a first-grade hospital, there was no improvement
for his neck. He then came to the Chinese hospital. Bo Shihua, a military doctor
of dermatology department, examined his wound carefully and found that it was
caused by the bite of a kind of very poisonous insect, and diagnosed it as
"insect dermatitis" and gave treatment accordingly.
¡¡¡¡Five days later, fully recovered A. Dennen came to the hospital to invite
the Chinese doctors to have a cup of tea in Pakistani barracks in the name of
the Pakistani air force detachment, he said: "You have superb medical skills, we
are grateful to the Chinese hospital."
¡¡¡¡UN employee: "Chinese military doctors have good quality and superb
medical skills"
¡¡¡¡On the second day after the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment began
to perform its mission, a 29-year-old female UN employee came to the outpatient
department of the Chinese hospital and asked to see Doctor Wang to redress her
wound. "Doctor Wang has returned to China. Please wait and let me call Doctor Lu
to redress the wound for you." The UN employee asked: "You have just arrived,
are you sure your doctor knows my condition?" The Chinese doctor detected a note
of doubt in her voice. She didn't realized that Doctor Lu Liubing knew her
condition thoroughly: "Your left hand was wounded by glass in a car accident on
May 31 and you were hospitalized for five days in our hospital. Today you have
come to take out stitches." Doctor Lu Liubing said to her. Seeing that doctors
and nurses knew her condition clearly, she swiftly stepped in the consulting
room. From disinfecting, cutting stitches off, and then redressing her wound, it
took Doctor Lu, who had worked as a military doctor for 20 years, only 20
minutes. In these 20 minutes, an admiring look gradually came into her eyes, and
finally she said: "Chinese military doctors are really great and they have
superb medical skills."
¡¡¡¡Commander of the war theater: "The performance of the Chinese
servicemen is the best"
¡¡¡¡On the afternoon of July 9, Col. Green, commander of the Second War Theater
of the UN Mission in Sudan visited patients in the Chinese hospital. In the No.7
Ward, he made detailed inquiry of a patient suffering from malaria. The patient
told Commander Green that he had a high fever of 39.8¡æ when he was hospitalized,
the Chinese military doctors worked out a treatment scheme for him, and the
nurses took his temperature more than ten times a day, at night they would
manage to bring down his temperature and did transfusion. In addition, these
doctors and nurses let him know timely the progress of his treatment in order to
increase his confidence in curing his illness. Thanks to the efforts of the
Chinese doctors and nurses, he was mending nicely.
¡¡¡¡Listening to the patient's praise of the Chinese doctors and nurses,
Commander Green nodded his head from time to time, he then held the hands of
Doctor Liu Chengyue and nurse Xiao Yiping tightly and said: "Thank you! You have
made positive contribution to the health of the officers and men from various
countries in the Second War Theater and demonstrated good qualities and high
levels of the Chinese servicemen. The performance of the Chinese servicemen is
the best in the Second War Theater"
