With the rounding off the precise scanning task for the 50-square-kilometer
competition area, the last line of defense, of the Olympic Sailing Regatta and
handing it over to the local departments of maritime police and maritime affairs
on July 24, the North China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy has wrapped up all the
preparation for the maritime security work for the Olympic Games.
Shouldering the heaviest tasks of the Olympic security work in the PLA
Navy, the North China Sea Fleet is in charge of the security missions of
"maritime patrol and keeping a vigilant watch, underwater check for security
reason, on-water search and rescue, and emergency handling" for three out of
four competition venues.
The preparation for the Olympic security indicates that the North China Sea
Fleet has been sticking to "coordinative move of multiple arms and responding
with multiple preplans" , stepping up on-site operation, real-time call-out,
troops' participation, and practicing with actual equipment and pertinence in
order to enhance the troops' capabilities of quick reaction and emergency
handling effectively.
